Nothing in particular

Well, I don't have anything super exciting to share this week, but a few pictures and a couple of events.

This is a pic of my kiddos before bed a few days ago.  Both of them just had their baths and I laid Nora down on the floor in Reed's room so I could finish getting him ready and play for a few minutes before bed.  Reed ran over and laid down next to Nora and said "mommy, take picture of me and baby sister!".  So I seized the moment and grabbed my phone.

Nana and Papa Branch took Reed to a Jazz game on Thursday night.  What a lucky kid!  I wish that I could have been a fly on the wall to watch him experience it.  It was his first time in a large arena like that and seemed to have a great time.  When he got home, he told me that he saw a bear (the mascot I assume) and that he saw "the guys".  I asked him who won and he said "the guys won!".  He told me that he had a hot dog and that they sat up way high.  Nana and Papa also got him a new Jazz jersey (he has insisted on wearing it 3 of the last 5 days) and a basketball.  His voice was hoarse so I assume he was either non-stop talking or screaming or maybe both.  Nana texted me these pictures during the adventure.

Last night, we went to our friend's house for a birthday BBQ for their son Ben's first birthday.  I neglected to take too many pictures, but Nora was playing with her friend Lucy and they were just being so cute to each other.  They are a month and four days apart (Lucy being older) so they are about the same size and have similar skills.  They were almost talking to each other, cooing back and forth and they would go after each other's shoes and hair bows (typical girls!).  Every time Lucy would reach for Nora's shoes, Nora would grab Lucy's hair band.  I was afraid she was going to snap it in her face!  Luckily they were fine and had a fun time with each other.  Plus they are just too darn cute!

31 and 37

So last week it was my 31st birthday.  Yesterday was Fogg's 37th birthday.  We had a good weekend of fun stuff.

On Wednesday night, we were able to go visit James and Michelle and their new little girl, Gracie, at the hospital.  We brought them some sandwiches and sparkling cider to celebrate.  She has a full head of black hair and is super tiny.  What's crazy is that she was 10 ounces heavier than Nora but I cannot for the life of me remember Nora being so small!  Obviously she was but it's crazy how it escapes my brain.  I love her name and both James and Michelle were absolutely glowing.  So excited to watch her grow up and be besties with Nora.  On our way home, we stopped to pick up my first birthday gift of the weekend, a new dirt bike outfit (pants, jersey and gloves) all matching and NOT pink or purple.  It's really cute butter yellow and royal blue.  I can't wait to wear it and be a styling dirt biker when we go to Moab in a few weeks!

Thursday was my actual birthday.  Nothing special really for the day, headed to work after I stopped by Bruges to get me some birthday waffles.  Yumm-o!  Seriously the best food I put in my belly.  They even gave me free strawberries on my belgian chocolate stuffed waffle.  When I got home from work, we went to Noodles with the kids for my birthday dinner.  Nora was a little angel, happily sitting in the high chair the whole meal.  Reed actually ate his meal without too much coercion on our part.  Even after he poured soy sauce in his mac and cheese.  At dinner, Fogg told me my second gift was that he called my boss and arranged for me to have the day off on Friday!  Sweet!  He also took the day off so we got to spend the day together (kid free)!  The best part of the day was that Reed looked at me when I got home and said "Mommy, you so pretty".  Seriously the best thing ever.  I almost cried and gave him big hugs and told him thank you very much that he made me very happy.  Then he said "you my best friend".  Seriously, does it get better than that?  Not really.

Friday we dropped the kids off at daycare and went about running a bunch of errands and having a little fun.  We did boring things like grocery shopping and Costco. We also got a new weed-wacker and I got some new workout clothes.  We stopped at a few stores to just look around too.  Then we had lunch and went go-cart racing.  Fogg won but my goal was to not let him lap me - which he didn't.  We got to pick up my Honda from the shop (got a brand new motor cause mine blew up).  We spent the afternoon cleaning up around the house and washing cars.

On Saturday Fogg and I went dirtbiking!  I haven't been in like 4 years so it was fun to get out again.  Another fun day to just spend with my hubby. Sunday afternoon Fogg went dirt biking with a friend and I hung out with my kiddos.

Monday was Fogg's birthday.  I made him dinner (but it was pretty much the same as every other dinner).  We used our new grill that we got a few month ago on a super deal.  It's pretty fancy so I can't wait to use it more this summer and use all the features (like a veggie grill basket).  I gave him a pair of shoes that I think he will like.  After the kids went to bed, he said he got us both a gift.  A new tablet!  I asked for a kindle fire but he did some research (as he always does) and found this one was better.  It's an Acer Android tablet.  I still have to figure it out but I'm super excited about it!  Yay!  What a fun birthday weekend!

Sorry I don't have any new pictures of my kids.  Rest assure that they are still super cute and funny.  Nora is getting bigger and smarter by the day.  I think that she is going to cut some teeth soon, it seems like I might see some teeth below her gums on the bottom.  She is sitting up better and better, starting to grab for almost everything.  She loves her mesh feeder with a banana in it.  When I bring it to her she sticks her hands out and started grunting for it.  Then she just mows on it for a long time.  Last night, she never dropped it.  Reed has been saying funny things too, as usual.  We have been working on the word "obey" lately.  I'm kinda getting tired of saying the same thing 3 or 4 times before he reacts.  We are going to fix that now, I ask him "what does the word obey mean?  It means listen and react" .  I'm also trying to teach him more information (he knows his first and last name, where he lives and how old he is).  He also has the big obsession with hangers.  He will go into his closet and get all the unused hangers that I throw on the floor.  He will hang them all over his room and anything he can, bedside table, bed, dresser, door knobs.  Last night he wouldn't go to bed until all of them were actually in bed with him.  He sees them and has to carry them around saying they are his cupcake. He freaked out once when I removed one to close his door.  His imagination is growing and has been wanting me to play out stories with him.  The other day it was me using the helicopter as rocket and him using an airplane as big jet (rocket and big jet are characters in his favorite cartoon Little Einsteins).  We played out a situation where big jet fell and rocket helped him. He got mad when my attention was distracted.  It's fun to play with him and help him grow his imagination even more.

Well, that's all for now, have a great week!

My Baby is 6 Months Old!

Nora had her 6 month doctor appointment on Friday. I can't believe she is already 6 months old. Thank God! She has been sleeping great lately, being generally the cutest baby ever. I was saying the other day that I thought that there could never be a cuter kid than Reed but Nora rivals him! Her smile takes up her whole face and I love it. She opens her mouth so wide when she is happy.
At the doctor office, waiting for her checkup!

She is tracking great as far as growth and milestones. She weighed in at 16 pounds 6 ounces (born at 6 pounds 5 ounces). Her weight is 55 percentile, height is 65 percentile, and head is 70 percentile. She is sitting up really well on her own, rolls over all the time, starting to work on getting on her knees (really she is just lifting her belly off the ground right now). She grabs at anything she thinks she might be able to get. She recognizes when someone she knows comes within her view and gets a tad upset when she is left alone in a room. She loves her bouncer, check out the video in previous post. We are going to start introducing more complex foods and hopefully she can start feeding herself some things soon. No teeth yet, though she is always sucking on her hands, drooling and chewing on stuff. Here is some funny pictures of her eating the other day.

I love how much she loves her daddy. She gets really excited when she sees him, flapping her arms. Fogg calls her "Nora Flapperson". Here they are snuggling the other night, I love how she is looking at him.

Reed continues to be a great big brother. He is starting to interact with her more and more. We'll see how he reacts when she starts playing with his toys. His favorite word these days is "Mines?" which means "is this mine?" He really wants every item to be owned by someone. Though he is good at sharing (with some), we'll see how sibling rivalry comes into play soon.

Reed fell asleep the other day in his chair. This is after he refused to nap during his two hours in his room. This position looks so awkward.

Cheers for the day~

Easter

Before I get to Easter, I have to share these two cute pictures of Nora at the park the other day. It was pretty nice outside, a little breezy. Nora got to sport her new hat - cute little owl.

Trying the swing for the first time!

Easter was great. The weather was beautiful. Here are the kids baskets from me. They got lots of treats from grandparents too! Here is Nora's basket:

Reed's basket:

Reed loved opening his basket and loved helping sister open hers. He played with all his goodies all day. He even let himself out of his room this morning and went straight for his baskets on the dining table. I found him after he had dumped it all out.

After baskets, we went to a brunch at church. Here we are outside the place that we had the reception for our wedding. I actually have a bridal picture in this exact spot.

Lots of my friends have kids the same ages as one or both of my kids. Here are five of them (missing one who was out of town!). Oldest is on the right side - Fiona, Ben, Sierra, (then Ethan if he was there), Lucy, and Nora.
And here is my pretty little Easter girl. Reed refused a picture of him alone or with Nora so no pic of Reed for Easter. He looked equally adorable in a blue button down, navy sweater vest and khaki corduroys.

We visited a friend who is in the hospital with high blood pressure, hoping to not have her baby soon! Although I'm very excited to meet James and Michelle's baby, I hope she stays in her mommy's tummy a tad longer so she can gain some weight and develop her lungs some more. I'm sad they missed Easter fun but I'm glad they are being taken care of! Then we went to a little BBQ at a friends house where Reed got to roll around in the grass, play with Jane, get lots of grass stains, and learn how to play Bocce ball from Jane's Papa.

We had a great Easter - my favorite holiday! And I have to admit - I LOVED dressing my girl up in a cute Easter dress, more than I thought I would. She is just a little doll - love her!

Cheers~

Because I can

Took some pictures of my baby girl in another cute outfit. Love these boots! She was happy as could be - barely stopped moving, hence some blurry pictures. Also, needed a new picture for the header cause Carol bugs me about it every time... so this is for you Carol ;)
