We went to Pittsburgh to visit the Fogg families over 4th of July. It was a tad stressful, traveling with two kids and no direct flight, so two whole days were spent flying. Overall the kids did great on the flights, Reed did fantastic and Nora had some tough moments but for the most part, did alright. We got in late Tuesday night and pretty much headed straight to bed. In the morning, the kids played with Papa Fogg in the infamous "papa trap":
After lunch, we headed up to the Butler County Fair. It apparently has some nostalgia for Fogg, his brother and sis-in-law Georgette (memories of going as rowdy teenagers). We first looked at animals - cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, etc.
Unfortunately, as we were leaving one of the buildings, headed over to check out some other animals, Reed and I got stung by some massive bee. He screamed so loud and that bee chased us awhile after he stung me too! I haven't been stung in some time, it really does hurt! Luckily, a nice gentleman with a cooler gave us his icepack and that helped Reed heal fast. We got some snacks then headed down to the ride area. Reed and Gabby did this tramp thing. Reed did flips the whole time.
After a few other rides, we headed to meet up with Grandma Fogg and have some dinner at Primanti's. We headed home and rested up for the fourth!
In the morning of the fourth, Georgette and I did a 5K. I made it my goal to train for and complete it on the fourth, so I just found one near their house to do while we were there. My goal was to do it in 30 minutes or less. Luckily it was a flat course, did it in 28:25! I came in 43rd place overall and 6th in my age group. It was a good accomplishment to me and I felt great. Next up a 10K on July 17th in Morgan. I'm excited and scared.
When we returned home to the kids (Grandma and Papa kept them at home for us), we got ready and headed down to the downtown Rigatta. It was sooo hot and humid. We did a few things, watched a dog show, a bmx show, rode a slide, watched some power boats. That's about the time that Nora completely melted down. She had a huge long fit, we think from the heat. So we headed back up the city a few block and found a fountain that the kids could run in that was totally in the shade of the buildings. We had a nice regroup there. Here is Nora looking sweet, don't let her fool you, she can grow horns when she wants to!
She wanted to put on dad's socks and shoes. Funny girl.
The kids got along pretty well during the trip (usually do at home too). Reed wanted to hold her hand, love these pictures. He wanted me to take pictures of them, so they ran to this circle.

Shorty after those pictures were taken, there was a small scare. Someone lit off some fireworks under a bridge which sounded scary, and sent people running. It was a few seconds of total panic but it calmed down quickly. Then the rain started, not heavy but also uncertain. Everyone else decided to pack it in and head home. We had been down there for hours so we were staying gosh darn it! So we threw on our rain jackets and waited it out. Luckily, it ended as quickly as it started and the fireworks started. They were awesome, the kids were mesmerized.

In the morning, we got right up and headed down to the strip for some shopping! We got some new steelers stuff, goodies to take home. Then it was to the original Primanti's location for lunch. Sooo good.
Nora even liked her dismantled version.
Now on to weddings, more camping, my 10K, then it'll be August! How does that happen?
